Baramulla, Feb 6, KDC: Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have apprehended a man after a video of him constructing a structure resembling the Holy Kaaba in Waripora Kunzar went viral on social media.
The individual has been identified as Abdul Razak Lone, son of Gh. Ahmad Lone, a resident of Waripora Kunzar. According to police, locals voluntarily demolished the structure during the night after the video gained attention.
In a statement to Kashmir Dot Com, Baramulla Police said that a preliminary inquiry indicates the man “appears to be mentally unsound.” Authorities have decided to conduct a medical evaluation, and he will be taken to a psychiatric hospital after securing the necessary orders from the Executive Magistrate.
Amid growing discussions around the incident, police have urged the public not to spread misinformation or rumors on social media or other platforms.
“Circulating unverified information can lead to unnecessary panic and misinterpretation of facts. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found indulging in rumor-mongering or attempts to incite unrest,” the police statement warned.
Police have requested citizens to maintain peace and communal harmony while cooperating with law enforcement agencies. Any suspicious activities or concerns should be reported through official police channels, the statement added.
For any clarifications, the public can contact Baramulla Police through the official helpline.
Police have assured that the situation is being closely monitored, and further investigation is underway. (KDC)
