Sopore, Jan 19, KDC: A suspected militant hideout was busted in Zaloora Gujar Pati under Police Station Bomie, Sopore, during a joint operation by the Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 179 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Sopore Police.
Sources said the operation began as a cordon-and-search operation (CASO) following intelligence inputs about militant activity in the area. As the forces busted the hideout, gunfire erupted from the spot, prompting the security personnel to strengthen the cordon to prevent any escape.
The exchange of fire escalated into an encounter, with initial reports suggesting that two militants are likely trapped.
Security forces have sealed off the area and deployed additional personnel to ensure the operation’s success. No casualties have been reported so far, and the operation is ongoing.
Further details are awaited as the situation develops.
