SRINAGAR: Prominent hotelier and industrialist, Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, extended heartfelt congratulations to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for the landmark inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel, scheduled for January 13.
Chaya commended the government’s efforts in completing this state-of-the-art 6.5 km tunnel, which ensures year-round connectivity to Sonamarg.
“The Z-Morh Tunnel is a transformative infrastructure project for Jammu and Kashmir, addressing the long-standing challenge of seasonal inaccessibility. This will establish Sonamarg as a true all-weather destination, unlocking immense potential for tourism and local economic growth,” he stated.
He praised the project for its role in boosting the region’s tourism industry, stating that uninterrupted access will lead to a significant increase in visitors, trade, and employment opportunities. “Sonamarg is one of Kashmir’s most enchanting destinations, and this tunnel marks a new chapter in its accessibility and development,” Chaya added.
Acknowledging the Union Territory Government and the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision for infrastructure development, Chaya expressed optimism about further initiatives to enhance Sonamarg’s appeal. In this regard, he urged the UT Government and PM Modi to sanction a cable car facility in Sonamarg. “A cable car system would be a remarkable addition, elevating the tourism experience and further solidifying Sonamarg’s status as a premier hill station,” he emphasized.
