SRINAGAR: An already-married woman from Jammu and Kashmir married another man from Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli after connecting with him on Facebook. Her husband filed a police complaint, accusing the wife of stealing cash and gold worth lakhs, reported India Today.

The husband also claimed that the lover had misled his wife through social media and taken her away. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

The woman, Abiral, from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, married Vinod Kumar from Mohali, Punjab, in 2017. However, she later developed a relationship with Faizan Ahmed from Rae Bareli. In December 2024, Abiral left her husband and travelled to meet her lover, Ahmed, and two days later, she married him.

When the husband learned of the marriage, he approached the Rae Bareli police on Tuesday and filed a complaint. He alleged that Ahmed had misled his wife into leaving and taking valuables worth Rs 5 lakh, including gold, a mobile phone, and Rs 2 lakh in cash.

Senior Police officer Shivakant Pandey said that the woman wished to stay with her lover. The case is currently under investigation. (KDC)
