Srinagar, Jan 9: National Conference (NC) President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Thursday pointed out the importance of cooperation between the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir government, stating that both must collaborate rather than engage in conflicts to ensure the J&K’s development.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Abdullah addressed questions about the alliance between various parties in the Union Territory. “Those who believe the alliance is solely for electoral purposes should reconsider. The alliance was formed to combat hatred within India and promote unity,” he stated.

Responding to remarks by NC MP Aga Ruhullah, who alleged that Omar Abdullah was being perceived as a “Centre’s man,” Dr. Abdullah dismissed the claim, asserting that Omar Abdullah is committed to serving the people. “Let him say what he thinks. But Omar Abdullah is the people’s Chief Minister. He is not working on anyone’s directives. Do you want us to fight with the Centre?” he questioned.

Dr. Abdullah clarified that the National Conference is not aligned with the BJP but stressed the necessity of working with the central government for the progress of Jammu and Kashmir. “If we start fighting with the Centre, how can we resolve the people’s issues? Building schools, hospitals, and ensuring development require cooperation, not confrontation,” he said.
