SRINAGAR : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Pulwama MLA Waheed Ur Rehman Para has called the establishment of a new National Institute of Technology (NIT) campus in Pulwama a welcome move but stressed that the transfer of nearly 5,000 kanals of land is “unacceptable” without fair compensation and guaranteed jobs for locals.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Para as per news gathering agency Kashmir Dot Com stated: “Pulwama welcomes the establishment of an NIT, but seizing 5000 kanals of land is unacceptable. Without fair compensation and guaranteed jobs for locals, this project will face strong resistance.”
The district administration Pulwama has begun transferring 4,834 kanals and 19 marlas of state land in Hazratbal for the campus. A team of revenue officials, including Naib Tehsildars, Girdawars, and Patwaris from various tehsils, has been assigned to expedite the preparation of documents under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Pulwama.
