SRINAGAR: Authorities in Udhampur district have detained two women under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for their alleged involvement in activities supporting militant groups, police said on Tuesday.
In a statement shared with the Kashmir Dot Com, police identified the detainees as Maryama Begum, wife of Mohd. Shafeeq, and Arshad Begum, wife of the late Jamal Din. Both are residents of Basantgarh, hailing from Loudhara and Rai Chak, respectively.
According to police, the women were reportedly involved in providing logistical support and acting as guides for militant organizations. Their actions were deemed a significant threat to public safety and the region’s security.
To prevent further activities undermining public order, authorities invoked the PSA to detain the two individuals, the statement said. (KDC)
