SRINAGAR: National Conference (NC) senior leader and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq said on Monday that talks are underway with the Government of India to hand over Law & Order to the elected government of Jammu & Kashmir.

“We want elected government to handle law and order issues, so that individuals involved in lesser crimes will be released. Talks in this regard are underway with the Government of India, though it will take some time but we are optimistic,” MLA Tanvir Sadiq said.

He said we are hopeful that statehood to J&K will be restored in coming months so that issues pertaining to people will be resolved without impediments.

“I want to congratulate people of J&K for their mandate they gave to National Conference (NC). Out of 12 guarantees and 26 promises, the government fulfilled 4 major promises which include resolution on special status in J&K Legislative Assembly, resolution on statehood in the cabinet meeting, reverse of academic session from March to November, and age relaxation,” he said.

He also said though the way ahead is tough, but we have received five years mandate and we will ensure all promises made with the people fulfilled in our time.

“The issues like increase in ration, kerosene, and gas quota will be addressed in coming times. We assure people that this government is yours, and all promises will be fulfilled, but keep patience,” he added.

He continued that Omar Abdullah-led government is aimed to provide relief to people of Jammu & Kashmir to ensure major package and boost local tourism. “There are many plans under consideration before chief minister Omar Abdullah, and people will be made aware about them in coming times. Our main focus is on tourism, infrastructure, trade, economy and horticulture. These sectors will be addressed in a passage of time for the welfare and betterment of J&K and its people,” he added.
