Srinagar: The bail of MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid, popularly known as Er Rashid, has been extended by Delhi court until October 12, 2024.

AIP Spokesperson Inam un Nabi confirmed this development to news agency Kashmir Dot Com that they had applied for an extension of Er Rashid’s bail in Delhi’s Patiala House Court, which has now been granted. Rashid’s interim bail is extended until 12th October 2024.

Rashid, who is facing multiple charges, was granted bail for assembly campaign with the court reviewing his case periodically. His legal team has been pushing for an extension, citing various reasons including the complexity of the case and procedural delays.

Er Rashid, a prominent political figure in Kashmir, was arrested in connection with a case involving allegations of terror funding. His supporters have continuously advocated for his release, claiming the charges are politically motivated.

The next hearing is scheduled for mid-October, where the court will further review his bail status and assess the ongoing investigation. (KDC)
