The Chief Conservator of Forests, Kashmir, has directed all field functionaries to wear the prescribed departmental uniform while performing field duties and attending official engagements, wherever applicable, as per a circular issued on November 6.
The circular states that the Forest Department is a uniformed force and that wearing the prescribed uniform reflects the discipline, identity and professional ethos of the department.
“Wearing of uniform not only reflects the discipline, identity and professional ethos of the Department but also reinforces authority, accountability and a sense of responsibility among its field personnel,” the circular reads.
It further directed that the uniform must be neat, proper and strictly in accordance with the prescribed departmental specifications.
The Chief Conservator of Forests has also instructed all concerned controlling officers to ensure strict compliance with the directions and monitor their implementation during inspections and field visits.
“They shall also ensure that the prescribed uniform is worn by the subordinate field staff without exception,” the circular said.
Warning against violations, the department said any deviation or non-compliance with the instructions would be viewed seriously and could invite appropriate disciplinary action under the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1979, as applicable. (KDC)
