SRINAGAR: In a major political development, the Awami Ittihad Party (AIP), and banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI) have announced a strategic alliance for the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
The alliance as per Kashmir Dot Com was announced by Engineer Rashid during a rally held by AIP in the Tral area of South Kashmir.
Under the terms of the alliance, AIP will support banned JEI backed independent candidates in the Kulgam and Pulwama constituencies, while JEI will endorse AIP candidates in other key areas. This collaboration aims to consolidate their electoral influence and address shared regional concerns.
Engineer Rashid explained that the decision to form this alliance followed extensive discussions with banned JEI members. He stressed that the alliance is intended to serve the larger interests of Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting a unified approach to tackling the region’s political and developmental challenges. (KDC)
