SRINAGAR: The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Ganderbal, who is also the Nodal Officer for the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct and its Complaint Management, has called for legal action against a member of the National Conference (NC) and former Sarpanch for using the term “assassination” in a public speech. He has also sought explanation from the Flying Surveillance Team (FST) of Tulmulla for failing to report the incident in a timely manner.
According to an official communique addressed to the Additional Deputy Commissioner, who is also the Nodal Officer for Law and Order in Ganderbal, a copy of which is with Srinagar-based news gathering agency Kashmir Dot Com, ADDC Ganderbal Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani (JKAS) has sought the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against former Sarpanch and member of National Conference Mohammad Ashraf Ganie for using the term “assassination” while addressing a public gathering.
This speech, which, according to the Nodal Officer, targeted individuals disrespecting the party flag, is considered a breach of the Model Code of Conduct.
“Apropos the above-quoted subject and reference, it is reported that a breach of the Model Code of Conduct has occurred. Mohammad Ashraf Ganie S/o Ab Rasheed Ganie, a member of the NC and former Sarpanch, residing at Peerpora (Contact: 7006158211), used the term ‘assassination’ in his speech when addressing the public. His comments were directed at individuals who do not show respect for the party flag,” reads the communique from the Nodal Officer MCC Ganderbal to the ADC.
“Given the gravity of this situation, it is recommended that stringent action be taken against the said person. An FIR should be filed against the culprit under the applicable laws for promoting hatred through his speech and for violating the Model Code of Conduct,” the communique further reads.
Meanwhile, a copy of the communique has also been served to the Flying Surveillance Team (FST) Tulmulla, instructing them to explain why they failed to report such an incident to the concerned authorities in time.
“Failure to do so will result in stern action as warranted under rules and ECI Guidelines against the FST,” the communique added. (KDC)
