Estates woman dies of cardiac arrest in Jammu, family seeks transport of body to Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 05, KDC: A woman government employee working in Estates Department on Darbar Move has died in Jammu due to cardiac arrest and her family has urged the government to facilitate transporting her body to her home in Srinagar for last rites.

Rafiqa Begum Wife of Muhammad Sadiq, resident of Hyderpora, Srinagar, died two days ago in Jammu and her body is lying in GMC, Jammu, mortuary from last two days.

Rafiqa, who is working as Sanitary Attendant in the Estates Department, suffered a heart attack in Jammu.

“We rushed her to GMC Jammu but doctors declared her dead. For the last two days, her body is lying in the hospital mortuary,” Sadiq told KDC over the phone from Jammu.

Sadiq appealed to the LG administration to make arrangements and facilitate transporting the body of her wife to her home in Srinagar for last rites.

Due to heavy snowfall from Monday, Srinagar-Jammu highway has been closed for traffic while the fights scheduled at Srinagar Airport stand cancelled. (KDC)
