Bandipora, Nov 22, KDC: Commissioner Secretary, Science and Technology, Saurabh Bhagat, on Tuesday attended an awareness programme organised by Department of Science and Technology at mini secretariat Bandipora.

The programme was organized with an aim to sensitize the farmers regarding use of Solar Energy in irrigation pumps.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary said that PM KUSUM is primarily meant for upliftment of the farmers. He urged upon the officers to educate people regarding the benefit of scheme so that benefit of scheme percolates to grass root level.

He exhorted upon officers to identify the areas for development of  model solar villages.

Saurabh Bhagat apprised the gathering regarding various benefits and incentives being extended by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, under PM KUSUM scheme.

It was informed that the scheme allows the farmers to install subsidized Solar Powered Pumps upto 10KW.

On the occasion, the pamphlets containing all the related information on Solar Pumps under PM-KUSUM scheme and Rooftop Solar Scheme like prices, subsidy amount, beneficiary share were distributed among the farmers.

Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed, DPO Bandipora, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, ADC Bandipora Waseem Raja, officers from J&K Science Technology, Horticulture and Agriculture departments besides district administration attended the  awareness programme. (KDC)
