According to officials, a complaint was received alleging that Junaid Ahmad Band had brandished the service weapon of a PSO deployed with a retired police officer during an incident at Saderbal in Hazratbal.
Police have registered FIR No. 123/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Nigeen and initiated an investigation into the matter.
The police spokesperson said the alleged accused had been taken into custody, while the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the use of the official weapon and the role of the concerned PSO, were being thoroughly examined.
He said further legal action would follow based on the facts and evidence established during the investigation.
Srinagar Police also urged the public and media fraternity to refrain from speculation and avoid spreading misinformation regarding the incident.
