Baramulla, Nov 2, KDC: A surprise inspection at Government Degree College (Boys), Baramulla, on Monday found that 80 out of 179 staff members had left the institution before 3:45 PM, prompting the District Administration to seek biometric attendance records for verification.
The inspection was conducted by a team of the District Administration headed by Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Baramulla, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, following reports of premature departure by staff members, reported news agency Kashmir Dot Com.
During the inspection, the team found that nearly 45 per cent of the total staff strength, including Heads of Departments (HODs), Assistant Professors and Lecturers, were not present on the college premises before the prescribed closing time.
Taking serious note of the findings, the administration has obtained biometric attendance records to ascertain the attendance status of the concerned employees and determine whether they had left the institution before the completion of official working hours.
The inspection has raised concerns over adherence to government-prescribed working hours and accountability in the functioning of the government institution.
The District Administration has emphasised the need for punctuality and strict compliance with official instructions. Further action, if warranted, will be taken in accordance with applicable rules and procedures. (KDC)
