Passengers travelling on train No. 74622 from Baramulla towards Anantnag said the service had repeatedly been running around 45 minutes behind schedule, affecting their daily routines and onward travel.
A student travelling towards Anantnag said passengers had been waiting at the railway station for the train, which arrived late. Commuters said such delays create difficulties for students and working people who depend on the service for their daily travel.
Passengers also expressed concern about the difficulties faced by female students returning home late, particularly during winter when daylight hours are shorter and local transport may be less readily available.
Commuters said delays can force passengers to wait longer at stations or walk additional distances to reach their destinations when connecting transport is unavailable.
Railway services remain an important mode of transport for people travelling across districts for education, employment and medical treatment. Passengers said maintaining scheduled timings was essential to ensuring reliable connectivity.
They have urged the concerned railway authorities, including the Divisional Railway Manager of the Northern Railway’s Jammu Division, to look into the reported delays and take appropriate measures to improve punctuality.
Commuters have also called for a review of train timings, where necessary, to improve coordination with local transport services and reduce inconvenience to passengers.
Passengers said timely action by the railway administration would help ensure a more reliable travel experience, particularly as winter approaches. (KDC)
