Srinagar, Oct 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to virtually inaugurate and dedicate a series of infrastructure and developmental projects across the Union Territory of Ladakh on October 15.

The projects aim to strengthen strategic connectivity, promote tourism and upgrade socio-economic infrastructure across the high-altitude region.

Official sources said that the Prime Minister will virtually inaugurate the projects, including the newly expanded terminal building at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee (KBR) Airport in Leh.

Constructed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at an estimated cost of over ₹600 crore, the state-of-the-art terminal spans more than 23,000 square metres.

Designed with modern amenities suited to extreme weather conditions, the new three-level facility is expected to nearly triple the airport’s flight-handling capacity, increasing daily operations from 18 to up to 54 flights.

The inauguration package also includes road networks and strategic bridges executed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and other national agencies. These projects are expected to improve accessibility to border districts and strategically important areas.

Special ceremonies and local gatherings are being organised at district headquarters across Ladakh to mark the occasion. The Prime Minister is also expected to address the public, outlining the government’s vision for sustainable development and inclusive growth in the region.

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena, local leaders, administration officials and residents are expected to attend the functions at district headquarters.
