Srinagar, Oct 11: A woman lost her life after jumping from the third floor of a residential building while attempting to escape a fire in Noorbagh area of Srinagar on Sunday, reports said.
The incident occurred in Jehangir Mohalla, where the woman was reportedly trapped on the upper floor when the fire broke out. In an attempt to save herself, she jumped from a window and suffered critical injuries.
She was rushed to SHMS Hospital for treatment, where she later died, according to reports.
The deceased was identified as Haleema Sheikh, wife of Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Noorbagh.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, while the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
