Srinagar, Oct 6: Authorities on Tuesday demolished an allegedly illegal shed constructed on state land in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.
The structure, reportedly built by relatives of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru, was located on a flood basin and was removed during an anti-encroachment drive conducted by a team of the Revenue Department, officials said.
According to officials, the shed had been erected and occupied on state land in violation of government regulations.
They said the structure was allegedly constructed and occupied by family members of Afzal Guru, who was convicted in the 2001 Parliament attack case and executed in February 2013.
The demolition was carried out as part of the authorities’ action against alleged encroachments on state land, officials said.
