Srinagar, Sep 30, KDC: A most-wanted terrorist belonging to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed on Tuesday in an encounter with the Rashtriya Rifles in the higher reaches of Budgam district in central Kashmir, security officials said.
While Kashmir-based Chinar Corps did not reveal the identity of the slain terrorist, a top police official confirmed to news agency Kashmir Dot Com that the slain terrorist was identified as Asif Fauji alias ‘Moosa’.
He said that Asif Musa has been active in Jammu and Kashmir for approximately three years, having infiltrated Indian territory in September 2023.
Over the past two years (2024–2026), he set up bases and heavily operated across both sides of the Pir Panjal range — moving through the dense forests of the Poonch district before shifting his focus to the central Kashmir sectors of Budgam and Yusmarg.
His close aide Yasir alias Abu Talha was also killed on 5th September in Operation Ashdar in Budgam forests by security forces, he said.
The killing of Musa is being considered the biggest setback for the LeT operating in Jammu and Kashmir, the officials said. (KDC)
