Srinagar, Sept 21, KDC: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Monday accused the National Conference-led government of avoiding serious issues concerning the people instead of providing clear answers and solutions in the House.
Speaking on the floor of the Assembly, Sharma said the BJP had raised the concerns of NHM employees, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, GRS, technical staff, daily wagers and unemployed youth, who, he said, were seeking clarity on employment, outsourcing, regularisation and their future prospects.
He said the concerns of these sections could not be brushed aside, particularly when thousands of families depend on such employment opportunities for their livelihoods.
Sharma also raised the issue of increased power tariffs, saying rising electricity costs were putting additional pressure on household budgets and affecting ordinary families across Jammu and Kashmir.
“When genuine public concerns are raised in the Assembly, it is the responsibility of the government to provide clear answers. The Opposition will continue to raise the voice of the people and seek accountability from the government,” Sharma said.
The Leader of Opposition also referred to concerns raised by employees and workers from different sectors over their service conditions and employment security, while saying that the youth were seeking meaningful employment opportunities.
He urged the government to come forward with a clear roadmap instead of avoiding the issues.
Sharma also raised the concerns of cooperative bank victims, saying affected people continued to seek relief and resolution of their grievances.
He said the BJP would continue to raise issues concerning employment, livelihoods, rising costs, basic public services and opportunities for youth in the Legislative Assembly.
“The BJP will not remain silent on issues affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir. As a responsible Opposition, we will continue to question the government, demand answers and ensure that the concerns of the people reach the floor of the House,” he said.
Sharma reiterated that the Opposition would continue to discharge its constitutional and democratic responsibilities and seek accountability from the government on matters concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir. (KDC)
