Rajouri, Sept 13: Two young sisters died after reportedly being bitten by a snake at their home in Manma Barmari village of Kalakote subdivision in Rajouri district on Sunday, officials said.
The incident occurred when the children were asleep with other members of their family, according to officials. A snake reportedly entered the room and bit the two sisters while they were on the bed.
The children were identified as Amiba, 5, and Amiza, 3, both residents of Rajouri.
Family members rushed the sisters to a nearby hospital after the incident, but they could not be saved and succumbed to their injuries during treatment, officials said.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident, officials added.
