Srinagar, Sep 10: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone Sujit Kumar today visited twin districts of South Kashmir including Kulgam and Shopian to comprehensively assess the security landscape, counter terrorism grid, crime mitigation efforts, and general law & order scenario.

On his visit, IGP Kashmir was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir Range Javed Iqbal Mattoo. During the visit, IGP Kashmir chaired security and crime review meetings in both districts, attended by respective Senior Superintendents of Police along with other senior and jurisdictional gazetted police officers.

The SSPs of Kulgam and Shopian presented comprehensive briefings outlining the prevailing security situation, status of anti terror operations, counter insurgency grids, crime prevention strategies, and steps taken to uphold public order.

Reviewing operational preparedness, Sujit Kumar emphasized the imperative need for robust, proactive intelligence gathering, close inter agency coordination, and swift, decisive responses to neutralize emerging security challenges. Sujit Kumar instructed field formations to sustain pressure on terrorist ecosystems and maintain zero tolerance against inimical elements attempting to disturb peace and public order.

As part of the tour, IGP Kashmir also visited rural Sub-Division D.H. Pora in district Kulgam, where he held an interactive session with local jurisdictional supervisory officers, station house officers, and jawans of Special Operations Group.
