Srinagar, July 23: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday chaired a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar with senior officials from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Civil Administration, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and other key security agencies.
The meeting reviewed the overall security situation and assessed the preparedness of various agencies to ensure peace and stability across the Union Territory.
The Lieutenant Governor also undertook a comprehensive review of the logistics and safety arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra in view of the recent spell of inclement weather and heavy rainfall across the region.
Emphasising the need for coordinated efforts, Sinha directed all departments and security agencies to maintain seamless coordination to ensure the safety, well-being and convenience of the pilgrims undertaking the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Baba Barfani.
He instructed the concerned officials to remain vigilant and ensure that all necessary measures are in place to address weather-related challenges, maintain smooth movement of pilgrims and provide timely assistance wherever required.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra has been witnessing intermittent disruptions due to heavy rains and landslides along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and the pilgrimage routes. Authorities have been closely monitoring the situation and taking steps to ensure the safe conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
