Srinagar, July 23, KDC: In a major anti-terror crackdown following the terrorist attack that claimed the life of policeman Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, security forces overnight demolished the residential houses of two active Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Official sources told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that the demolished houses belonged to Adil Ahmad Thoker, a LeT militant from Guri village in Anantnag, and Haroon Rashid Ganai, son of Abdul Rashid Ganai, a resident of Hassanpora Tawella in Bijbehara, who has been associated with the outfit since 2018.
According to officials, the house of Adil Ahmad Thoker was razed during the night using controlled explosive devices.
“In a separate operation carried out during the intervening night, the single-storey residential house of Haroon Rashid Ganai was also demolished. The anti-terror action was jointly executed by security forces,” they said.
The action came a day after Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, a resident of Beerwah in Budgam district, was killed in a terrorist attack in the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag on Wednesday.
Following the attack, security agencies launched an intensified counter-terror crackdown across Jammu and Kashmir. Police have detained nearly 3,000 suspected overground workers (OGWs) and other suspects for questioning as part of the ongoing operations across the valley, while security has been significantly strengthened across the Kashmir Valley, particularly along the Amarnath Yatra route.
