Srinagar, July 22 (KDC): In a major counter-terrorism operation launched following the deadly terrorist attack in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained over 200 suspects across central Kashmir’s Budgam district and carried out extensive raids to dismantle terrorist support networks.
A police official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com, that the district-wide operation was launched as part of enhanced preventive security measures to maintain peace and foil any attempts to disturb public order.
The detained individuals include suspected Over Ground Workers (OGWs), miscreants, orbit members of JKNOP and persons involved in NDPS-related cases. They were taken into preventive custody from the jurisdictions of all police stations and police posts across the district for sustained questioning and verification.
Police said extensive intelligence-based raids were simultaneously conducted at multiple locations across Budgam to identify terrorist associates, dismantle logistical and support networks, and deny operational space to anti-national elements.
Security has also been significantly strengthened across the district, with additional deployments at vulnerable locations, intensified vehicle checking, reinforced nakas, area domination patrols and enhanced surveillance.
Officials said the operation forms part of the ongoing Valley-wide counter-terrorism campaign launched in the aftermath of the Anantnag terror attack. Further action will be taken based on the outcome of the ongoing investigation and verification process, police said. (KDC)
