Jammu, Jul 16: Jammu Railway Division on Wednesday opened its newly constructed two platforms i.e., 6 and 7 – under the station redevelopment work, for the operation of all trains at Jammu Railway Station.

With platforms 4 and 5 also becoming active again, according to railway officials, all seven platforms are now operational at Jammu Railway Station.

“To enhance passenger convenience and facilitate the increasing rail traffic at Jammu Tawi Station, Northern Railway, Jammu (Railway) Division has opened the newly constructed platform number 6 and 7 for the operation of all trains under the station redevelopment work. Along with this, platform number 4 and 5 have also been made fully operational,” informed Raghvender Singh, Public Relations Inspector, Jammu Railway Division.

He stated that train number12413 was received at the newly built platform number 6 on Wednesday.

“Great enthusiasm was witnessed among passengers at the station on this occasion. With the commissioning of platforms 6 and 7, the capacity for simultaneous halting and operation of more trains at Jammu Tawi Station has increased. This will make train movement smoother, reduce halting time, and provide relief to passengers from overcrowding,” Singh maintained.

The opening of the new platforms, he said, would ensure better and enhanced facilities to passengers traveling to and from Jammu and Kashmir and would strengthen regional connectivity.

“With platforms 4 and 5 also becoming operational again, all seven platforms are now active at the station,” Singh stated.

He requested passengers to check train schedules and platform information from station announcements and display boards.

“We appeal to passengers to use the Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) and signage built to access the new platforms and to follow the instructions of railway staff,” Singh said.
