Srinagar, July 5: No terrorist body had been recovered till Sunday in the ongoing cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Chanapora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, even as security forces continued intensive searches in the area, officials said.
The operation was launched on Saturday by a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF following specific intelligence inputs about the possible presence of terrorists in the area.
Officials said the area was immediately cordoned off and a massive search operation was launched to trace the suspected terrorists. Security forces have been conducting systematic searches, while additional reinforcements have been deployed to maintain a tight security grid and prevent any escape.
Sources said that despite reports of suspicious movement during the operation, no terrorist body had been sighted or recovered so far. They added that the search operation was continuing, with security personnel combing the area thoroughly.
Officials said the situation was being closely monitored and further details would be shared as the operation progresses.
The joint operation by the Police, Army and CRPF was still underway when the last reports came in.
