Srinagar, July 3: The Jammu & Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Friday said its spokesperson, Umar Masoodi, has been selected for the 11th Anglophone Edition of the Nuremberg Summer Academy, a fully funded international training programme on international criminal law to be held in Nuremberg, Germany, from August 3 to 7.
According to the Association, Masoodi, a law graduate from the University of Kashmir, has been associated with JKSA for the past five years and has served the organisation in different capacities before being appointed as its spokesperson.
JKSA said the Nuremberg Summer Academy is organised by the International Nuremberg Principles Academy and focuses on international criminal justice, accountability, transitional justice, and the investigation, prosecution and adjudication of international crimes.
The Association said the programme brings together early-career professionals, researchers, lawyers, judges, prosecutors, government officials, military officers, civil society representatives and academics from different countries for lectures, workshops and practical sessions conducted by experts in the field of international justice.
According to JKSA, participants are selected through a competitive process involving a written application and interview, with a limited number of candidates chosen from across the world.
The Association said the scholarship is fully funded by the International Nuremberg Principles Academy and covers international travel, accommodation, local transportation, travel insurance and other programme-related expenses.
Congratulating Masoodi on his selection, JKSA said the achievement reflects the growing participation of students from Jammu and Kashmir in international academic and professional programmes.
The Association expressed hope that the exposure gained through the programme would contribute to Masoodi’s work in the fields of law, public policy, youth leadership and international justice.
