Srinagar, June 30: The Jammu and Kashmir government is considering announcing summer vacations for schools across the Kashmir Valley during the second week of July.

Education Minister Sakina Itoo said the School Education Department is in the process of finalising the vacation schedule.

“The final date has not been selected. We will select a date and take a final decision once I return from New Delhi,” Itoo said.

She also urged students and parents not to pay heed to rumours circulating on social media platforms.

“The message being circulated on WhatsApp groups and other social media platforms is fake. We will announce the decision officially,” she said.

While the government is yet to announce the summer vacation schedule for schools, the office of the Regional Transport Officer (RTO), in a public advisory, has urged people to avoid unnecessary visits to its offices due to the prevailing heatwave.
