Srinagar, June 28: Amid allegations of backdoor appointments in government departments, the Jammu and Kashmir Government on Sunday asserted that all recruitments are being carried out strictly through established procedures and on the basis of merit, while maintaining that outsourcing arrangements should not be equated with regular government employment.
Responding to the controversy, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani said the administration has adopted a transparent recruitment policy that leaves no scope for appointments outside the prescribed legal framework. He maintained that every selection is conducted through recognised recruitment agencies and institutional mechanisms, ensuring equal opportunity for all eligible candidates.
The clarification came as concerns were raised over alleged backdoor entries into government service. Wani rejected such claims, saying the government remains committed to a fair, transparent and merit-driven recruitment process across departments.
Echoing the government’s stand, Minister Sakeena Itoo said outsourcing is an administrative arrangement aimed at addressing immediate operational requirements and should not be interpreted as recruitment to government service.
She said outsourced personnel are engaged temporarily to meet specific functional needs and do not become regular government employees through such arrangements.
The government reiterated that no appointments are being made outside the established recruitment process and assured job aspirants that transparency and accountability remain central to its employment policy. It said all regular appointments continue to be governed by existing laws, recruitment rules and institutional procedures. (Agencies)
