Srinagar, June 27, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday said it has attached several immovable properties and gold ornaments allegedly amassed through disproportionate assets by Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Firdousabad Batamaloo, who was posted as Naazir in the office of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, in connection with a disproportionate assets case registered by the agency.
According to an ACB statement, the attached properties include a single storey tin roofed residential house along with six marlas and 172 square feet of land situated at Firdousabad Batamaloo and owned jointly by the accused and his spouse. The Bureau has also attached three parcels of land at Nambal, Nowgam, including 10 marlas recorded in the name of the accused’s daughter, four marlas and 136 square feet recorded in the name of his wife, and another eight marlas and 136 square feet also recorded in the name of his wife. In addition, the ACB said gold ornaments weighing approximately 1,266 grams, seized during the investigation, have also been attached.
The ACB said the action has been taken in connection with FIR No. 09/2025 registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar on May 22, 2025, following the outcome of a secret verification into allegations that the accused had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income while serving as a public servant.
“As part of the investigation, searches were conducted at the residence of the accused, during which copper utensils, gold ornaments and other luxury items were found and subsequently seized,” the statement said, adding that the accused was rounded up during the investigation and is presently on bail under court directions.
The Bureau further said that continued investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly accumulated substantial movable and immovable assets disproportionate to his known income. “After obtaining approval from the competent authority, two teams headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police rank officers were constituted to carry out the attachment proceedings at Batamaloo and Nowgam. After fulfilling all legal formalities, the identified properties were attached on the spot and signboards were erected to inform the general public,” the statement said.
The ACB has appealed to the public not to purchase, exchange or enter into any transaction involving the attached house or land, stating that the properties have been attached as part of the ongoing investigation into the disproportionate assets case. (KDC)
