Baramulla, June 17 (KDC): Baramulla Police on Wednesday issued an advisory for media persons, local news portals, social media handlers, freelance journalists and content creators, urging them to exercise caution while recording, publishing or circulating photographs and videos of police officers, security personnel and official security deployments.
According to the advisory issued by District Police Baramulla, media personnel have been advised not to disclose or highlight sensitive details, including security arrangements of officers and protectees, deployment patterns and strength of security personnel, access control and frisking procedures, vehicle formations and escort arrangements, communication equipment, command positions and other tactical procedures.
The police also cautioned against publishing close-up visuals of officers and security personnel engaged in sensitive duties or any material that may reveal operational tradecraft and security arrangements.
Baramulla Police, according to news agency Kashmir Dot Com, said that unauthorised publication of such content could compromise security, expose personnel to avoidable risks and assist hostile elements in analysing procedures, identifying vulnerabilities and planning adverse actions.
While reiterating that media coverage of public events and official programmes is welcome, the police emphasised that reporting should be carried out responsibly and without compromising operational security. It also advised media persons to obtain prior permission wherever recording of police or security arrangements and officers on duty is involved.
District Police Baramulla warned that any irresponsible publication or circulation of material prejudicial to security or public order may invite appropriate legal action. The advisory, it said, has been issued in the interest of security, officer safety and maintenance of public order. (KDC)
