Srinagar, June 4, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday revoked the transfer of a senior officer in the Youth Services and Sports Department, a day after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a meeting of ministers and legislators at Dachigam National Park where administrative decisions, including transfers and postings, reportedly came under discussion.
The Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, according to Kashmir Dot Com, rescinded the transfer of Megha Baogia, Deputy Director (Economics & Statistics), who had been shifted from the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) to the Planning Department less than three weeks ago.
Baogia’s transfer was ordered through Government Order No. 56-JK(PD&MD) of 2026 dated May 18, 2026, which stated: “In the interest of administration, Smt. Megha Baogia, Deputy Director (E&S) in the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports Department, J&K is hereby transferred and posted in the Planning Development & Monitoring Department with immediate effect.”
However, the government on Wednesday issued Government Order No. 66-JK(PD&MD) of 2026 dated June 4, 2026, cancelling the earlier order.
The fresh order reads: “In the interest of administration, the Government Order No. 56-JK(PD&MD) of 2026 dated 18.05.2026 issued by the Planning Development & Monitoring Department with regard to the transfer of Smt. Megha Baogia, Deputy Director (E&S) from the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, J&K to the Planning Development & Monitoring Department is hereby rescinded ab-initio.”
The cancellation effectively restores the status quo, allowing the officer to continue in the Youth Services & Sports Department.
The development comes a day after the Chief Minister chaired a meeting of National Conference ministers and legislators at Dachigam National Park. Sources said several participants raised concerns over recent administrative decisions, including transfers and deployments of officers in various departments.
According to sources, the functioning of the Youth Services & Sports Department also figured during the deliberations, with some legislators reportedly expressing dissatisfaction over certain decisions. The matter is understood to have drawn the attention of the Chief Minister.
However, there was no official word linking the withdrawal of Baogia’s transfer order to the discussions held at Dachigam.
Notably, neither the May 18 transfer order nor the June 4 rescinding order cites any specific reason for the move, with both documents merely stating that the decisions were taken “in the interest of administration.” (KDC)
