Jammu, May 22, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against Ashiq Hussain Rather, presently posted as Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Hydraulic Sub-Division Chhatroo in Kishtwar district, ACB said on Friday.
ACB in a statement to news agency Kashmir Dot Com said, the case has been registered under FIR No. 01/2026 under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 at Police Station ACB Doda.
The case was initiated following a verification conducted by the ACB Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban wing into allegations that the officer had allegedly amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Officials said the assets under scrutiny include a five-storey residential house on Court Road Doda, land allegedly purchased at Udrana in Bhaderwah and Sunjawan Jammu, substantial bank balances including fixed deposits, costly electronic gadgets and jewellery, besides other movable and immovable properties allegedly held in his own name and in the names of family members.
The ACB said preliminary verification indicated that the value of assets acquired by the suspect was disproportionate to income earned from known lawful sources and that he had allegedly enriched himself illicitly during his service tenure.
During investigation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau obtained search warrants from a competent court following which searches were carried out at residential and official premises linked to the suspect in Doda and Kishtwar districts in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses.
Officials said further investigation into the matter is underway. (KDC)
