New Delhi, May 21: Three trademark applications have been filed seeking rights over the name “Cockroach Janata Party”, official records show, amid the rapid rise of the satirical social media platform that has amassed millions of followers online.
The applications filed with the Trade Marks Registry seek registration under a category related to providing political and social services.
According to official records cited by PTI, separate applications have been filed by individuals Azim Adambhai Jam and Akahnd Swaroop, besides a proprietorship entity named “COCKROACH JANTA PARTY”.
The development comes as the satirical platform has witnessed explosive growth across social media platforms. While its X account was withheld in India, its Instagram presence has continued to expand rapidly, crossing millions of followers within days of launch.
The satirical outfit has gained traction for online commentary and political-themed digital content, drawing widespread public attention and generating strong engagement on social media.
