Srinagar, May 18, KDC: A Delhi court on Monday granted interim bail to jailed Baramulla Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid to allow him to attend the last rites of his father, who passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, family sources said.
Family sources confirmed to news agency Kashmir Dot Com, that Rashid’s father had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS for the past several days before breathing his last on Monday, reported news agency Kashmir Dot Com.
Engineer Rashid, currently lodged in Tihar Jail in a terror-funding case being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), had moved the court seeking permission to attend the funeral proceedings.
The court subsequently granted him interim bail to participate in the funeral of his father.
Rashid, the chief of Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), was elected as Member of Parliament from Baramulla constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections while in judicial custody.
