Srinagar, May 4, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday filed a charge-sheet against 11 accused persons, including officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, in connection with an alleged illegal construction case in Srinagar.

ACB in an official statement to news agency Kashmir Dot Com said the charge-sheet was presented before the Court of Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar in FIR No. 24/2020. The accused include four public servants from SMC and seven private beneficiaries.

The case pertains to the construction of six illegal structures at Jawahar Nagar, Gonikhan, Hari Singh High Street, and Wazir Bagh areas of Srinagar without obtaining valid building permission from the competent authority. The ACB alleged that the constructions were carried out in connivance with officials of the SMC.

According to the ACB, investigation conducted by Police Station ACB Srinagar, based on oral and documentary evidence, substantiated the allegations against the accused. The probe revealed a criminal conspiracy between government officials and private beneficiaries in facilitating unauthorized constructions.

The charge-sheet has been filed under relevant provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, along with Section 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code.

Officials said that prior sanction for prosecution of the public servants was obtained from the competent authority before filing the charge-sheet.

The court has fixed June 16, 2026, as the next date of hearing in the case. (KDC)
