Budgam, April 28, KDC: Continuing its intensified crackdown on drug-related activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police in Budgam conducted series of well-coordinated operations across the district, leading to the destruction of illicit poppy plants and registration of two cases under the NDPS Act.=

Acting on specific inputs, a police team from Police Post Soibugh carried out an operation at Khan Mohalla Soibugh, where illicit poppy plants were found cultivated within a residential compound belonging to Ab Qayoom Khan S/o Maqbool Khan. The crop was destroyed on the spot, and FIR No. 101/2026 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Budgam.

In a separate operation, Police Station Chadoora received credible information regarding illicit poppy cultivation by certain farmers in the agricultural fields of village Checkdamjoo Ganjoo. Acting swiftly, FIR No. 49/2026 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chadoora.

All legal procedures, including seizure, sampling, and preparation of destruction memos, were duly carried out on the spot in the presence of Revenue and Excise officials, along with the Executive Magistrate, ensuring transparency and adherence to legal protocols.

J&K Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the district and urges the general public to refrain from any form of illicit cultivation.
