Anantnag, April 27: Anantnag Police said it has taken departmental action against an Investigating Officer (IO) of Police Station Anantnag for failing to follow mandatory procedures during the course of an investigation.
According to a statement, a case related to alleged vandalisation and assault on medical staff was registered at Police Station Anantnag under FIR No. 118/2026. During the investigation, four persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in the case.
Police said the concerned IO failed to fulfil the mandatory legal requirements related to the arrest of the accused persons.
Taking note of the lapse, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, Amod Ashok Nagpure (IPS), placed the officer under suspension.
Anantnag Police said it remains committed to upholding due process of law and ensuring accountability in all investigations. (KDC)
