Srinagar, Apr 24, KDC: A case has been registered following an incident of vandalism and assault inside a hospital in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, official sources said on Friday.
Sources told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that a group of individuals allegedly created a disturbance within the premises of Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, resulting in damage to hospital property and injuries to members of the medical staff who were on duty at the time.
They said the incident has been taken cognisance of, and a formal case (FIR No. 118) has been registered under relevant provisions of law. “An investigation has been initiated to identify those involved and ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. Four persons have been arrested and more are being identified,” they said.
Pertinently, a grieving family has alleged that their mother’s death at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag was the result of medical negligence, triggering widespread concern and public outrage.
The family has urged Health Minister Sakina Itoo and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to order a high-level inquiry into the incident and ensure accountability for those found responsible. (KDC)
