Srinagar, Apr 15: The Drug Control Department on Wednesday ordered the closure of a medical shop in Anantnag district for alleged violations related to the sale of restricted medicines, officials said.
The action was taken against Itoo Medical Store located at KP Road, Paibugh, during a joint inspection conducted by the Drug Control Department in coordination with the police as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Officials said the inspection team thoroughly examined the sale and purchase records of Schedule H1 drugs and found serious irregularities, including improper maintenance of records and dispensing of such medicines without valid prescriptions.
“Grave violations were detected in the handling of Schedule H1 medicines, which are strictly regulated due to their potential for misuse,” an official said.
Following the findings, authorities immediately closed the operations of the medical store on the spot, and proceedings have been initiated for cancellation of its drug license as per the prescribed rules.
The Drug Control Department reiterated its commitment to cracking down on the illegal sale of psychotropic and habit-forming drugs, stating that strict enforcement measures will continue to ensure compliance and curb drug abuse in the region.
Officials added that such drives will be intensified across the district to support efforts aimed at making the area drug-free. (KDC)
