Budgam, March 24: Budgam Police on Tuesday arrested a drug peddler in the Soibugh area and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
During routine naka checking at Harran village, a police team from Police Post Soibugh noticed a suspicious individual who attempted to flee on spotting the police but was swiftly apprehended.
The accused has been identified as Younis Nazir Ganiee, son of Nazir Ahmed Ganiee, a resident of Harran, Budgam. A heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.
A case under FIR No. 69/2026 has been registered at Police Station Budgam under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
Police reiterated their commitment to curbing drug trafficking and appealed to the public to share information on narcotics-related activities.
