Srinagar, Mar 11, KDC: The Food Safety Team Srinagar carried out a series of comprehensive market inspections across key commercial areas including Karanagar, Balgarden and Residency Road to ensure compliance with food safety standards and public health regulations.

During the inspection drive, officials checked various food establishments and instructed Food Business Operators (FBOs) to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act and related rules and regulations.

The team issued categorical directions to operators to maintain proper sanitation and hygiene standards within their premises to prevent contamination of food items. Food handlers and staff were also directed to maintain high levels of personal hygiene while preparing, handling and serving food.

Authorities further advised food business operators to upgrade their storage facilities and waste disposal systems in line with prescribed food safety norms to ensure safe handling and preservation of food products.

The officials warned that any lapse in maintaining hygiene or violation of food safety regulations would invite strict legal action, including heavy fines and suspension of business licences.

The Food Safety Department reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health and said such inspection drives will continue across the city to ensure that food establishments comply with safety standards. (KDC)
