Srinagar, Mar 8: The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to reopen all schools, colleges and universities across the Kashmir Valley from Monday following a review of the prevailing situation, Education Minister Sakina Itoo said on Sunday.
The minister said the decision was taken after assessing the ground situation and ensuring that conditions were conducive for resuming academic activities.
“After taking stock of the situation, we have decided to reopen schools, colleges and universities in all districts of Kashmir from Monday,” Itoo said.
Educational institutions had been closed last week as a precautionary measure amid protests reported in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir following recent developments in the Middle East.
With the reopening, schools up to Class 8 will also resume classes after the winter vacation that lasted for more than two months.
Classes for students of 9th to 12th had already resumed from February 23 across the Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu.
Officials said normal academic activities are expected to resume in all institutions from Monday.
