Jammu, Feb 25, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against Vijay Singh Choudhary, Inspector, J&K Police, following verification that allegedly revealed acquisition of vast immovable and movable assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
ACB in a statement to news agency Kashmir Dot Com said that, the verification was initiated on the basis of specific inputs regarding alleged possession of huge assets by Choudhary, a resident of Nonial, Nowshera in Rajouri district, presently posted in the Union Territory of Ladakh. He is also stated to have residential links at Santokh Vihar, Kaluchak, Jammu.
The verification reportedly found that while serving at various postings, the officer had accumulated assets worth crores of rupees. These include more than 10 properties in the form of houses, shops and plots of land measuring around 100 kanals, allegedly raised mostly in the names of family members, relatives and associates.
On the basis of the findings, a prima facie case under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was established against the accused. Consequently, FIR No. 02/2026 was registered at Police Station ACB Central and investigation was taken up.
During the probe, the ACB obtained search warrants from the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Jammu. Searches were subsequently conducted at multiple locations, including his residential houses at Santokh Vihar, Kaluchak (Jammu) and Nonial, Nowshera (Rajouri), as well as business establishments — a stone crusher unit and a tile factory — located at Tutte-di-Khui, Bajalta, Jammu.
Acting on further leads developed during investigation, additional premises in Jammu were searched under Section 185 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The ACB stated that incriminating documents and other material evidence were recovered and seized during the searches.
ACB said further investigation into the case is ongoing. (KDC)
