Jammu, Feb 17, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday appointed retired IAS officer Shantmanu as the State Election Commissioner of the Union Territory.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department, the appointment has been made under sub-section (3) of Section 36 of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989.
The order states that Shantmanu, IAS (Retd.), will hold office for a period of five years or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier. His appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge.
The notification further said that the terms and conditions of his appointment will be notified separately by the Government.
The appointment was made by order of the Lieutenant Governor and issued by Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, M. Raju, IAS. (KDC)
