Srinagar, Feb 6, KDC: The Islamic socio-spiritual radio discourse HUMSAFAR has achieved a historic milestone with the completion of its 1,000th broadcast episode on All India Radio Srinagar, marking a rare feat in faith-based public broadcasting in the region.

According to a statement, delivered by renowned Islamic scholar Hazrat Mawlana Fayyaaz Ahmad Zarroo, HUMSAFAR was conceived in 2005 and has been airing with consistent regularity since 2011. Over the years, the programme has emerged as one of South Asia’s longest-running non-commercial Islamic radio broadcasts, earning widespread respect for its depth, balance and social relevance.

Broadcast every Tuesday and Friday at 8:45 am, the programme has served as a trusted moral and intellectual companion for listeners across Kashmir. Through its discourses, HUMSAFAR has addressed a wide range of issues including moral reformation, family harmony, youth challenges, women’s dignity, social ethics and psychological resilience, all rooted in authentic religious references.

The programme is also known for courageously engaging with pressing societal concerns such as delayed marriages, materialism, substance abuse, erosion of ethical values and spiritual disorientation, offering solutions grounded in wisdom, moderation and compassion.

The landmark 1,000th episode, aired on February 6, 2026 (17 Sha‘bān 1447 Hijri), was described by listeners and admirers as more than a numerical achievement. It symbolised nearly two decades of sustained intellectual and spiritual service to society through the public airwaves. (KDC)
