BARAMULLA JANUARY 20: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today conducted an extensive inspection of the ongoing road widening works along the Baramulla–Uri NH-01 Package -1V road to assess progress and address issues affecting public convenience.

During the visit, the DC, accompanied by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue and other concerned officers,

inspected multiple road expansion sites and reviewed the quality, pace, and execution of works being undertaken by the executing agencies. Special attention was given to the Dhanakhan area, where recent landslides had disrupted the smooth flow of traffic and posed risks to commuters.

Taking serious note of the situation, the DC directed the concerned authorities and executing agencies to expedite the pace of construction, particularly in landslide-prone and vulnerable stretches, to prevent recurrent disruptions and ensure uninterrupted traffic movement.

The DC further instructed the agencies to adopt all necessary preventive and protective measures to mitigate the risk of future landslides.

Meanwhile, Minga Sherpa directed that traffic diversion plans be implemented wherever feasible during the execution of works, ensuring minimal inconvenience to the general public and maintaining smooth vehicular movement.

The DC stressed the importance of timely completion, adherence to quality standards and urged the officers on the ground to conduct regular monitoring and ensure strict compliance with safety norms.
